Lofoten Islands: Nusfjord

The Lofoten Islands are a very important fishing center, especially for the cod, attracted by the rich nutrients brought by the Gulf Stream. In the spring, thousands of tons of cod are hung to dry on wooden racks. We spent an afternoon in Nusfjord, one of Norway’s oldest and best-preserved fishing hamlets with a long-standing tradition of “Lofotfiske”, or seasonal cod fishing.
